Pupils will write a biography about an influential person, either someone that they understand or someone who is in the public eye.

What is a biography?

A biography is a written account of someone’s experience, written by someone else.

Year 3/4

• Pupils should plan their writing by discussing writing that is similar to that which they are planning to write in order to understand and acquire from its structure, vocabulary and grammar.
• Pupils should draft and draft by using simple organisational devices 9for example headings and subheadings).

Year 5/6

• Pupils should plan their writing by identifying the audience for and purpose for writing, selecting the appropriate form and using other similar writing as models for their own.
• Pupils should draft and write by using a range of devices to construct cohesion within and across paragraphs.
