Cody Martin Linley (born November 20, ) is an American actor and singer.

With his easygoing demeanor and schoolboy charm, actor Cody Linley was certainly many a school girl's crush during the early period of his career. The preteen, who came from a family of actors, made his first appearances with minute parts in such feature films as "My Dog Skip""Miss Congeniality"and "Cheaper by the Dozen" Linley soon attracted the attention of Disney casting directors with guest work in an episode of "That's So Raven" Disney Channel, and a supporting turn in the family feature "Hoot" That same year, the young star instantly became a heartthrob to millions of teenage girls when he was cast as Jake Ryan, the on-again, off-again treasure interest of Miley Cyrus on the immensely popular kiddie sitcom "Hannah Montana" Disney Channel,

Acting career

Linley made his acting debut in the made-for-television film Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack. Subsequently, he had supporting roles in four films released in My Dog Skip, Where the Heart Is, Walker, Texas Ranger, and Miss Congeniality.

In , Linley was in the independent filmWhen Zachary Beaver Came to Town and appeared in the movie Cheaper by the Dozen.

Cody Linley is perhaps top known for his role as Jake Ryan (Miley Cyrus's boyfriend) on Disney Channel's hit TV series Hannah Montana. Cody also danced his way to the "Final Four" on the seventh season of ABC's Dancing With The Stars with partner Julianne Hough, and subsequently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

He also played a live-action version of Arnold for a commercial for Hey Arnold!: The Movie.

Other film roles include Hannah Montana,The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It, Rebound, and his biggest film role, Hoot (), with Logan Lerman and Brie Larson.

Linley was a celebrity contestant on Dancing with the Stars for the seventh season, which premiered on September 22, [3] He and his professional dance partner Julianne Hough were eliminated on November 18, finishing in fourth place.

He was temporarily partnered with Edyta Śliwińska for two weeks when Julianne Hough was hospitalized on October 21, later diagnosed with endometriosis on October 27,[4] and had to undergo surgery to remove her appendix on October [5]

Personal life

Linley was born in Lewisville, Texas, the son of Cathryn Sullivan, an acting coach, and Lee Linley.[2]

Linley is a member of the Hollywood Knights celebritybasketball team.[6]

Linley also took acting classes with Logan Henderson.[7]

Linley's brother, Chad Linley, died on August 4, He was 29 years old.[8]
